FRIEND #1 CRITIQUE: its a great website, you have a great sense of typography. I feel like you have waay to many links to your portfolio like the recent works, the one on top and then the one thats on top the twitter.
RESPONSE: Thank you, I understand what you are talking about, my main goal was to create enough access to my portfolio page since users are not that smart and want the easiest way to a page without having to click on many links.
FRIEND #2 CRITIQUE: knowing who you are, i see a ton of bright colors and textures all over everything, so i was expecting that but now i see solid blacks and whites. not a fan. BUT if you texture these up a bit it will look more like you and the slider’s pretty cool on the front, ooh and the fancy schmancy portfolio section with the sections moving and all that is pretty cool.
RESPONSE: Hahaha I know what you mean about the colors and textures. I was thinking about using textures, such as noise, or maybe a subtle gradient, but it just didn’t look right. Thank you for the critique I’ll try and make some improvements on the solid colors maybe break it up by using noise.
FRIEND #3 CRITIQUE: i really like the color scheme and i like the large amount of white space in the center, maybe what might be better is the slide transitions in the center if there was a way to make it smoother or fade smoothly. i like how you added your twitter account on there since many people use that to network.
RESPONSE: Thanks, I’ve had this color scheme for about 2 years now and I am in love with the hot pink/black/white combo. My goal for the slider was to give it that bouncy feel instead of the usual fade in fade out style. Also I felt that having Twitter on the main page could get me more viewers to follow me on twitter, that will then lead them back to my website.
PROFESSIONAL #1 CRITIQUE: A well laid out website. Simplistic in design but intricate implementation of Javascript libraries for a seamless web experience. The arrows on the slider of the main page need to stand out more, for a few of the images weren’t visible. Love the consistent nav on the top. Maybe think about using CSS 3 for font embedding to change your top navigation to text instead of images. Also missing copyright information. Great start just needs to finalize the content and upload everything.
RESPONSE: Thank you, I like how you got what I was aiming for, with this simplistic yet intricate implementation of Javascript. I will take into account CSS3 for embedding the fonts instead of using images. Thanks again for your time.
PROFESSIONAL #2 CRITIQUE: I like the color pallets chosen for your website, it’s very consistent. I like the “slider” feature. You have a link right underneath that, labeled “Portfolio-Check out my work”; when you click on it, it takes you to a page with 3 pieces of work, however it’s similar multiple images of the same work. I really like the layout you have going on, other than a few glitches you have, I think it all flows well. I would be a little concerned or at least second guess the “recent work” section; I think if you’re going to have those there, put them to use other than just for looks or hierarchy. It looks nice on the page, however they serve no purpose. Maybe if you linked them as a short cut to go straight to that particular project, it will do greater good. Your “About Me” isn’t working.
RESPONSE: Thank you, the main purpose of the portfolio page is to allow viewers to click on the image, which then takes them to a page with details on the current project. I am not sure if i am going to keeps it this way or go with a different layout. I feel that I have a good amount of portfolio work that I would like to use, in this case it would be wise for me to use the category links. The about me is currently under development, I am trying to figure out a layout that I will like and be happy with.
